Hickman Insurance Services is an authorized agent for Covered California which is California's health insurance marketplace that offers subsidized health plans (Obamacare) required by the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Covered California is considered to be one of the best in the country and is the only exchange that allows standardized plans. The new state penalty enacted in 2020 provided increased subsidies for low and moderate-income people, and if you are finding that your health care is financially challenging, Covered California may be the perfect plan for you.
The open enrollment for 2025 health insurance coverage begins November 1, 2024 and ends January 31, 2025*. If you miss the deadline of January 31st, you can only obtain coverage if you qualify as a result of a "qualifying life-event" such as losing employer coverage, getting married or divorced, you've become a widow/widower, moving into California, aging off your parent's plan or having a baby.
If you are signing up for Covered California for the first time, or would like to explore your coverage options, please call our office at your earliest opportunity so that we can help you with your health plan. Please don't wait until right before the deadline. The days close to the deadlines can be chaotic for the Covered California Insurance Companies, and it is not unusual to be on hold for two hours or more when calling their offices for assistance!
